Established in 1946, Eric Carnaby & Son Ltd is a family-run business operating in plant hire, civils, and plant haulage. For over 77 years we have been an integral part of the local landscape, based in North Lincolnshire just two miles from Immingham docks, and contributing to the region’s growth and development.
At the helm is Roland Carnaby, who gained his HND in Civil Engineering from Nottingham Trent University in 1995 and cut his teeth working for Birse Construction and K. Rouse Civils. Since joining the business in 2005, Roland has overseen the company’s evolution and adaptation to the ever-changing landscape of our industry. This includes the introduction of engcon tilt rotators, rototilt tiltrotator and Leica 3D GPS systems, ensuring that productivity is maximised and that our clients benefit from cutting-edge technology.
Many of our workforce hail from families who have been with us from the beginning, helping us to nurture and maintain partnerships with a wide range of clients. We are preferred suppliers for a number of major companies and organisations, with clients including The Environment Agency, British Steel, Costain, ABP, P66, PD Ports, Ancholme Internal Drainage Board, North East Lindsey Internal Drainage Board, North East Lincolnshire Council, Lincolnshire Chalk Streams, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, Efab (Engie), BH Construction, Volker Stevin, and ABLE UK.
Our considerable local knowledge and involvement in projects across Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire has earned us a reputation for excellence, of which we are naturally extremely proud. Undoubtedly one of the most poignant and heart-warming chapters in our story occurred in 2020, when George Bamford of JCB made a surprise visit to our headquarters with an exciting suggestion. In recognition of our enduring relationship over the decades and in celebration of 65 years of shared family values, JCB undertook a complete and most splendid restoration of one of our JCB1s.
